Upper Dolpa Dho Tarap Heli trek is located in the mid-western region f Nepal, and near south of Tibet. The Dolpo people had settled in Nepal from Tibet so long ago that they have evolved their own unique traditions and culture. The blue sheep, Himalayan Tahar, jackal and wolf are common in habitants of the jungle of this region. The spotted leopard may be seen up to the tree line and the snow leopard beyond. The route followed offers the most panoramic and spectacular views of the majestic Dhaulagiri.
Dolpo is a hidden valley kept isolated by the huge Himalayan range in the south and in the north. The mountain range of 5000 to 6000 meters high with its many ridges, pass and peaks that stretched to the Tibetan plateau. Trek to Dolpo is an unprecedented adventure to the high, remote and original Bhotia (Tibetan) culture that still need to be discovered. It is true adventure in extreme land. You get to see spectacular mountain-view, unique and unspoiled Bhotia people in their nomadic condition. Broadly speaking Kanjiroba himal range defines its western boarder and in the south is Barbung Khola (river). The enigmatic Shey-gompa lies in inner Dolpo behind the high pass that divides Tarap valley. Dolpo is among the very few places where Bon-po, a pre Buddhist, religion is in practice. Outline itinerary for Upper Dolpa Dho Tarap Heli trek:
Day 01: Tarakot (2800m) – Stay in a Guest House
Day 02: Lahini (3200m) – Stay in a Guest House
Day 03: Dho –Tarap (4040m) – Stay in a Guest House
Day 04: Fly back to Kathmandu in the morning.
Detail itinerary of Upper Dolpa Dho Tarap Heli trek
Day 01: Tarakot (2800m) – Stay in a Guest House
Fly by Helicopter to Dunai early in the morning. The trek starts from Dunai, the district headquarter and continue along a beaten track east and then southeast for almost 20kms to Tarakot.
Day 02: Lahini (3200m) – Stay in a Guest House
The trail proceeds northeast via Khanigaon, and then along the Barabong Khola north east and reaches Lahini.
Day 03: Dho –Tarap (4040m) – Stay in a Guest House
Still advance along the Tarap Khola , past big caves (3000m) and reach Do-Tarap.
Day 04: Fly back to Kathmandu in the morning.
Breakfast at the Guest House. Explore around until Heli come to pick up, fly back to Kathmandu. Pickup and transfer to Hotel.
Cost: US$ 5200Â per person (minimum 5 person)
Cost is based on using one helicopter with 5 person. Change on number of participants will change the price, we will advise accordingly.
