Detail Itinerary

Day 01: Kyangjin Gompa (3840m). Overnight at Guest House

Pickup from your hotel, transfer to airport. Fly in the morning to Ghoratabla (3840m). Starting from Ghoratabala Into wide alpine country, reach the large village of Langtang, a Bhotia settlement in about 3 hours. Another 3 hours leads to Kyangjin Gompa.
Continue up the valley, leaving the forests behind, the trail ascends steadily up to Langtang village, passing below a monastery about 30 min beforehand. Langtang is an interesting Tibetan-style village with stone- walls enclosing houses and fields where you just might see your first yaks. The Langtang National Park headquarters is located here. After Langtang, you can see a community of typical flat-roofed Tibetan houses and the valley flattens and broadens into open pasture. This is perfect for raising yaks, and you woill see these imposing beasts everywhere. The valley is U-shaped was carved by a glacier. Below Langtang, the valley has the characteristic V-shape of a river-carved valley. Leaving Langtang, you ascend gradually to a chorten (a small Tibetan Buddhist stupa) behind which is a very long mani wall. The trail passes two small villages and the village widens. You cross several streams and a moraine before arriving at Kyanjin Gompa (3800m). Between Langtang and Kyanjin Gompa, the views just get better and better where you will see Yansa Tsenji (6580m) and Kimshun (6750m) to the north and the Langtang Himal to the northwest. Take a good rest and allow your body to acclimatise with the high altitude as much as possible to be fully-prepared for more ascending during the next day.

Day 02: Excursion to Langshisha Glacier - 6 hours walk, return to Kynjin Gompa for overnight stay. Overnight at Guest House

You may hike up the moraine to this north of kyanjin Gompa to an elevation of 4268 meter / 14000 ft. or more, a good long walk that takes you all the way up the valley to where the Salbachum, Lanshisha, and Langtang glacial moraines all converge. To get there you just continue on the trail heading east out of Kyanjin Gompa. You'll follow the valley past the turn off to Tsergo Ri and past the air field. During the walk you only gain about one thousand feet over five or so miles. Along the way you get some great views of the nearby peaks including Dorje Lakpa, and eventually Shisha Pangma, the only 8,000 meter peak in Tibet. Toward the end of the trip you have to start climbing up and around some of the old glacial terminal moraines, though the walking and the trail continue to be quite easy. After this you reach the actual site of Langshisha Kharka, which is marked by a number of poles with prayer flags and a few semi-permanent stone structures. There are excellent views of Langtang Lirung and a close up view of one of major glaciers. A fast descent takes you back to your camp at kyanjin Gompa.

Day 03: Climb Tsegori Peak (5000m) - 5/6 hours walk - Overnight at Guest House

This is a great day trip that takes you just under five thousand meters to a top of a peak that gives a 360 degree view of the Langtang valley. The climb is also one of the more challenging day trips, taking anywhere from three to four hours to ascend depending on your fitness, the effect of elevation on you and the trail conditions. The ascent starts out rather straight forward, pushing up an adjacent smaller peak, and then rounding to the back side of Tsergo Ri. This is where the trail gets a bit more difficult as it requires you to climb over a number of boulders and rocks, sometimes at a strong upward angle. The top of Tsergo Ri is a very pleasant spot with plenty of space. Plenty of prayer flags and polls add to the atmosphere and you can make out Kyanjin Gompa and other nearby features far below you. Most stunning of course is the excellent mountain panorama that unfolds before you, allowing you a really stunning view. You get a perfect view of Langtang to the west, Yala peak to the north and Dorje Lakpa and Shisha Pangma to the east. You can see very clearly the Ganja La pass through the southern mountains as well.

Day 04: Fly to Kathmandu in the morning.

Breakfast at the Guest House. Explore around until Heli come to pick you up, fly back to Kathmandu. Pickup and transfer to Hotel.
