Yala Peak 5732m climbing

North-east of Kyangin Gompa lies Yala Peak (5732m), it is very close from the Tibetan boarder. This peak is climbed in two days from Kyanjin Gompa with a high camp at Yala Kharka (4900m). It is also possible to do it in a single long day with a pre-down start and with good acclimatization. It is one of the easiest trekking peaks to scale. From the summit you get the best view of Langtang Lirung (7227m), Ganja La Chuli, Yansa Tsenji (6500m), Morimoto Peak (6750m), bulk of Shishapangma (8013m) and Langtang valley, Langshisa Ri (6800m) and lovely Ganchenpo (6387m). You do not require much technical knowledge to attempt this peak.

Day 01: Arrive in to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.

Day 03: Drive to Syabrubeshi (1600m) – 7 hours drive. Overnight at Syabrubeshi.

Detail Itinerary

Day 01: Arrive in to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel. Hotel accommodation

Day 02: Free day to explore Kathmandu own. Hotel accommodation.

In the evening trip briefing and introduction with the staffs members.

Day 03: Drive to Syabrubeshi (1600m) - 7 hours drive. Overnight at Syabrubeshi lodge.

Drive from Kathmandu to Syabru Besi which takes about nine hours.You head north out of Kathmandu driving through scenic foothills and ridgeline vistas to Syabru Besi passing through Dhunche. While passing along the road at the bank of Trishuli River you catch a glimpse of Ganesh Himal, terraces and green hills. As you pass through Dhunche you feel as if you are heading towards deep land.

Day 04: Trek to Lama Hotel (2470m.) 6 hours walk. Stay overnight at lodge.

The first part of the trail crosses through Bhote Koshi and follows the Langtang Khola. This trail is gradually ascent up to Bamboo passing through landslide. Afterwards, you trek down gently to Rimche (2400m.) through Bamboo (1960m.) which lies at the bank of Langtang Khola. You can have lunch at this place if you like. And at the end your trail is level to the Lama Hotel. En- route you could see red pandas, monkeys and bears if you are lucky.

Day 05: Trek to Langtang village (3430m.) via Ghore Tabela – 6 hours walk. Stay overnight at lodge.

As you continue climbing there are occasional glimpses of Langtang Lirung between the trees. At Ghora Tabela [3000m], the trail emerges from the forest. The trail continues to climb gently and the valley widens, passing a few temporary settlements used by herders who bring their livestock to graze in the high pastures during the summer months. There is a monastery, which you can visit shortly before arriving at the village of Langtang, the headquarters of the Langtang National Park.

Day 06: Trek to Kyangjin (3870m.) - 3 hours walk. Stay overnight at lodge.

The trail climbs gradually through small villages and yak pastures as the valley opens out further and the views become more extensive. After crossing several small streams and moraines, the trail reaches the settlement at Kyangjin. You should arrive at Kyangjin by lunch time allowing time to acclimatize and explore the area. It is a dramatic setting, with snow-covered peaks surrounding you in all directions such as Langtang Lirung, Ganjala peak, Tserko RI, Langsisa RI and many others.

Day 07: In Kyangjin - acclimatization day. Stay overnight at lodge.

This is a day off for acclimatization and a proper rest, exploring interesting places like the monastery and the cheese factory. You can walk up the moraine and climb Kyangjin Ri at 4350m for views of the surrounding peaks.

Day 08: Trek to Yak Kharka (4900m) - camp accommodation.

This is an ascent for five hours to Yak Kharka where the tents are pitched for a night under canvas.

Day 09: Setup High Camp. Camp accommodation.

A four hour trek along lateral moraine to the high camp at 5500m. The horse can make it this far if the ground conditions allow, depending on whether there is deep snow or not.

Day 10: Summit Yala Peak (5732m) and return to Yak Kharka - 8 hours. Camp accommodation.

At the summit of Yala peak, there are panoramic views of Shishapangma, Dorje Lakpa, Ganchenpo, Naya Kang, Tserko Ri , Langtang Lirung and many Tibetan mountains. The last 700 metres will require being roped up and using crampons and a walking axe. There is a final shapely ridge to negotiate to the small summit. Those who do not choose to add the Yala Peak summit day will rest in Yala Peak basecamp and await the return of the climbers before continuing on back down the valley. Rturn to Yak Kharka.

Day 11: Retrace trail to Kyangjin Gompa (3870m). 4/5 hours walk. Lodge accommodation.

Trek from Yak Kharka to Kyangjin Gompa which takes about four hours. You trek descent path all the way to Kyangjin Gompa. The views you can enjoy are of Ganchenpo, Naya Kang and others.

Day 12: Trek to Rimche (2500m). 7 hours walk. Lodge accommodation.

Start early for a long walk back to Rimche, the walk is just downhill so you will be fine. You may find yourself getting faster as you go due to the extra oxygen in each lower-altitude breath.

Day 13: Trek to Syabrubeshi. 6 hours walk. Lodge accommodation.

Trek to Shabrubeshi via Sherapagaon and Khangjim (1460m) village. Plenty time to rest and take good showers.

Day 14: Drive to Kathmandu (7 hours drive). In Kathmandu. Free day own your own.

This is the free day and you can use it for your shopping .In the evening we will drive you for farewell dinner with cultural dance.

Day 15: Departure

Free time until departure. Transfer to airport. Depart Kathmandu.
